    3. Asif Says:

      Choi,
What’s your notebook model. If you do, try the DVD button to access QPDP.

    4. Asif Says:

-, what version of Winzip are u using? You’re the first one with this complaint.

    5. Joe Says:

Oh! Arif please send new key to me. I want 12-20. thank.

    6. Choi Says:

my notebook model is HP Pavilion dv 2000tx.When i installed QPDP and try the DVD button .First, windows Vista is not work, on display show :”\system32\hal.dll .Please re-install a copy of the above file”.I think it is boot from QPDP and i come to DOS and use NTFS4DOS for read drive NTFS and i look file hal.dll in \WINDOWS\System32\hal.dll ,Then i delete file boot on drive X:,after this i restart machine then on display show nothing…

    7. Asif Says:

why did u delete the boot file?! What about the boot file on c: drive. THe one on c: should point to your primary windows installation. When you’re there, try reinstallintg hpqpdp.

    8. - Says:

I a m using WINZIP 8.1 and WINRAR 3.4. Both show the same problem :-(

    9. Asif Says:

Try the latest version of winzip. The files are made with 11, so you’ll definitely have an issue, because winzip has probably rubbed off microsoft now :)

    10. Isaak Says:

      Hello Asif.
Is it possible to install the Quickplay Direct software for windows vista without having to create a new partition for it?

And how does this keys to download work? Are they constantly renewed? I always get a “key expired” message :/

      Thx for your help.

    11. Joe Says:

key expired. Please send new key to me. thanks.

    12. Choi Says:

thanks Asif for help! But i think QP can not run offline on machine with vista,it’s good work with WinXP only.today, i do everything but QP only work when Vista has gone. And error show after i installed HPQPDP and restart is : “\system32\hal.dll .Please re-install a copy of the above file” :( at the end i will use HPQPDP, no time for this lab …

    13. Asif Says:

No, Isaak, you need a partition. The keys are renewed, I will be posting new ones tonight.

Choi, QP Direct does run on a machine with Vista. I have it running. With some laptops you need to edit your boot.ini file….but I assure you, it works. The key is to not get frustrated.

    14. Kerry Says:

Hi Im trying to download the qp direct file but it is saying the key has expired. can a new key be obtained?

    15. Crosby Says:

You mention editing the boot.ini file. What should it be. My QP Direct was working and now I get the hal.dll missing message when I try to run it. I have the QPDirect files from the swsetup folder but it will not install. It says something about the partition allocation failure. The partition for the QP Direct is still there, just get error (hal) when I try to start the QP Direct.
      Thanks for your help.

    16. Asif Says:

Crosby. My apologies for taking so long to respond; i’ve been engaged with some court matters lately.

Okay, I mentioned the hal.dll issue on another post, and gave 2 links to the solution. I’m in a hurry right now, perhaps you can search for hal.dll on the site and find that post.

If fixing hal.dll doesn’t solve your problem, you may have to re-allocate the partition and re-install then. The question is, did any event occur which you think may have lead toi the corruption of hal.dll? And, are having the problem with a vista or xp running as the main install?

    17. Crosby Says:

      Asif,

Thank-you very much for the reply. Good luck with the court matters…

This is an HP Pavillion dv6000 unit. Running XP-Media Edition as main install.

Everything was working fine until watching a DVD from power-up. At one point the DVD froze and when I tryed to reboot I kept getting a hibernation error. When I got out of that loop it indicated the hal.dll error message. I would get this error into the QuickPlay partition or the main operating system partition. I tried several boot utilities but was not able to resolve the problem with main boot partition.

I finally removed the hard drive and installed it to an external USB serial IDE adapter and plugged into my main system. At that point I was able to run chkdsk on the NTFS system partition and it resolved the problem. I could then boot to the operating system and everything was fine.

The only problem now is that I can not run the QuickPlay from power-up. I get the hal.dll error message. I some how thing the boot.ini on that partition is not pointing to the correct partition. The hidden QuickPlay partition is still in tact.

BTW - I have partitioned the hard drive but the QuickPlay had always worked, even after the partitioning. Since that partition shows up as a “Type D7″ and is unreadable in Windows there is no way to edit the boot.ini file on it or to test it for corruption ot errors.

I have attempted to reinstall the QuickPlay Direct v2.3 from the SWSetup folder but I get an error that the install was terminated due to partition allocation failure. I have even created a new (empty) 1024meg partition (some forum mentioned how to do it) and tried the install again, same error.

I am a computer technition and am very familiar with most problems and how to resolve them but this one has me tied up. Thanks for your response and any help or light you could shed on this.

      Crosby

    18. Crosby Says:

      Asif,

BTW - I did a search on your site for hal.dll and it did not come back with anything.

    19. Asif Says:

      Crosby,

Once again, my apologies for taking days to reply. My issues have moved from one to a higher court and central prison, so i’m really finding it hard to give time to this and other sites.

In any case, when and if you’re trying to re-install QPD, on the dv6000 people have had problems with installation if they have more than one partition. Second, if you are looking to edit the boot.ini on the QP partition, you can edit it by using the rmdl.exe application in the c:\swsetup\hpqpdp folder. If you changing boot.ini doesn’t do the trick, then you need to revert to a main partition and a QP partition only, and then run setup.

Now, for hal.dll, try http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_haldll_missing.htm or http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/missinghaldll.htm. You can also search for hal.dll on google, and the first result is a download replacement for hal.dll, here’s that link: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal. Now, some of the comments here are helpful, and basically, if the first 2 links i gave here don’t work, replacing it may solve the problem, although if u have tried to reinstall QPD, I suggest you do the reinstall properly and then proceed with this hardware abstraction layer stuff if u still have problems.

    25. Assad Rafaq Says:

      Dear Bro,

I tried all of your keys it says following key is not valid.

Please if you can provide with abother Key.
I will be thankful,in desperate need.

    26. Juniper Says:

I downloaded an update to QuickPlay, but when I try to install it the program says it can only be installed on a Hewlett Packard system. I am trying to do this on an HP Pavilion dv6000. My original problem is that the QuickPlay bar above my keyboard is not responding. The only button that works is the mute button and even that doesn’t change colors the way it is supposed to when the volume is muted. Any suggestions on how to fix either of these problems would be great, thanks.

    27. Kriss Says:

      Hi, there!

I have dv6635en (EUROPEN version) with preinstalled Vista. My system administrator made downgrade to XP. After that starting QuickPlay 2.3 (pushing button) QuicPlay starts booting into XP. Tell me how to resolve this problem. As I understood from above topics I need QuickPlay Direct? I saw link, but key doesn’t work. Could you send me a working key?
      TNX.

    28. Ricardo Ramirez Says:

I just wanted to thank you for making this forum posible, Asif. I recently purchased a COMPAQ HP DV6000 series laptop with an AMD Turion X2 processor with Windows Vista Ultimate. The laptop didn’t have HP Quickplay Direct installed. I knew of that feature but was surprised that HP didn’t install it on the laptop. I think it was because I bought it refurbished from a third party vendor.

I am happy to report that I have Quickplay Direct working fine on my laptop. The key is making sure the last partition is exactly 1,028 MB (1.00 GB) in size, assign it the drive letter X: and not format it. Also, make sure that before running the Quickplay Direct install, that you right-click the SETUP.EXE file and select “Run as administrator” in Windows Vista.

    29. Asif Says:

      Hi Ricardo,

I’m glad you were able to install QuickPlay Direct. Thanks for sharing the experience!
