I believe the problem is that the installation files don’t contain drivers for the 8000 chipset series. The reason why you will get the BSD is because the drivers provided obviously do not match up with the hardware, resulting in the BSoD when you reboot your computer after installation.

I’d started the project of integrating more drivers into the installation file for quickplay direct but never really got around to it. What you would need is the QuickPlay Direct 1.0+ version which creates a linux partition with the QP installation. I don’t think I have a copy of this, but I may, and if I do, I will upload it. Meanwhile, I’ll have a look at integrating more drivers into the QP file installation file. The problem is I’m going to have to unpack it, and that requires software that I’m not to keen on investing in. Nonetheless, I will have a look. If I can find version 1 of hp QuickPlay Direct, I’ll post the keys.

However, no matter how many times I’ve tried to install, I always get the BSOD 0x0000007b. I read on other forums that this may be due to a driver issue and I’m pretty sure it is. Everything installs fine, except after the reboot. I’m trying to install QPD 2.3 on my first generation dv1000 (WinXP, BIOS F.22, and Intel 82852/82855 GM/CME integrated graphics). I have even tried making the drive visible and then trying to manually install the files, but still I get the BSOD after reboot. Oh and I might add a quick note about the SATA issue that some people are encountering, which won’t apply to my system simply because my system is probably too old to support it, and also, there are no options like that in the BIOS.

I’ve read pretty much all the configuration out there, but none that are in particular with the same system that I have. Any clues as to what driver or other issues I’m encountering? Thanks for your comment.

I have followed all instructions intently, but every single time, I get a BSOD with 0x0000007B after reboot. From all the googling and learning about the different installing procedures for QPD, I think this may seem to be a driver issue. One of the most popular was the SATA issue but that was with Vista. My laptop doesn’t support SATA, nor does my BIOS have that option to enable/disable, so I don’t think it’s the issue here.

For this time, I’m going through the installation as is but will actually edit the boot.ini file in the X partition with QDP to disable the automatic reboot and make it done manually, since all the times i have let it auto-reboot resulted in the same BSOD error. I’m doing this just in case I get the BSOD and will not have to use a recovery cd, since I already have the recovery console. If the BSOD come up again hopefully I’ll have the option to just boot into WinXP not have to fiddle with FIXBOOT or Buildcfg commands with the recovery concsole. Not sure if the installation of QDR will alter the MBR.

I’m not sure what else could be happening that is resulting in the BSOD errors besides driver issues. Would you have any clue what could be the problem with my configuration? Thanks for your comments.
