HP Quickplay on Windows Vista
I’ve finally done it. After waiting a few weeks for the recovery CDs as directed by HP, which turned out to be absolutely useless, I scouted the web some more, found out how to install Quickplay on Vista without signing up for the HP Express Upgrade, which is a tedious process and basically gets you a Vista recovery CD specific to your PC model. Now, the instructions that follow are reproduced from here: http://www.notebookforums.com/post2542025.html. Credit goes to this guy. Also, it seems like Quickplay 3.0 is only going to work on Windows Vista, so I wouldn’t suggest trying it on XP. However, if it works on XP, please be sure to let me know. Here goes:
——————
1. Back up your system in case of catastrophic failure (always a good first step when jacking around with partitions).
2. Download HPQPDP.rar or HPQPDP.zip, from http://ridickulous.net/quickplay/. This site is temporarily down for some reason, so you can download HPQPDP.zip here at http://www.asifism.com/downloads/quickplay/HPQPDP.zip and QPW 3.0 (Quickplay for Windows version 3.0) here at http://www.asifism.com/downloads/quickplay/QPW3.0.rar. — Here’s the a link that will have all the files on it. http://asifism.badongo.com/. My apologies for all the inconvenience all the other links have caused, but I didn’t anticipate such a high volume of downloads.
3. Extract whichever you downloaded and drop the resulting HPQPDP folder into your :\SwSetup\ folder (mostly for safekeeping purposes).
4. Using PartitionMagic Pro or Disk Management in Windows something else to either shrink your main partition, secondary partition, or whatever. You want to end up with a 1027.6 MB (or 1028 MB) UNALLOCATED area of space at the END of the drive. Go through all the reboots the machine will likely want to make this happen. It can’t hurt to verify that the unallocated space is there and unallocated after all this. (NOTE: If Partition Magic keeps giving errors saying “Selected disk contains one or more Partitions which cannot be moved,” you have a recovery partition that prevents it from doing what you need it to or drive information has changed. You may have to find another way of resizing your partitions or a reboot might solve the problem.)
5. After creating the unallocated space, assign it the drive letter X: but DO NOT FORMAT IT.
6. Hie thee to the HPQPDP folder and run setup.exe.
7. Wait.
8. Wait some more.
9. Reboot and keep on waiting.
10. Shut down the laptop and hit the Quickplay button. You WILL most likely see a Windows logo, since QP2.3 is Windows-based whereas QP1.x is Linux-based.
11. Enjoy a celebratory glass of single-malt scotch, and pop in or browse to your favorite flick. This step is optional if you are at work and/or not legal drinking age.
MANY thanks to everyone for their input. For the above files, thanks to modemboy for providing the .rars and to AmigaDude for the valid data2.cab and data3.cab files. Also, thanks to Ericko for the QPv1 image (found at http://www.megaupload.com/es/?d=QVE3S9PU) in case someone’s machine cannot run QP 2.x, and to everyone else that pitched in.
[Disclaimer: the 1.x image may not work in all machines. It looks like it was taken from a disc that shipped with a dv4000 CTO; YMMV. See the following article if you need 1.x:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g…reg_R1002_USEN
If you need QP 1.x and you created your recovery discs you have another option for restoring QP; it is listed in this article.]
This message was typed in anticipation while QP was installing.
[Edit: linusl also provides a more complex way of getting QP2.x to work under different circumstances if your QP partition is still intact - see page 42 of this thread.]
[Edit number 2: Changed slightly since files have ben re-uploaded.]
———————–
Here’s the deal. After following this, you look for the QPW folder in c:\swsetup and install quickplay from that folder. This is the actual Quickplay installation, and only after this will quickplay work. The QPW folder will contain Quickplay for Windows version 2.3. If you want Quickplay 3.0, download it from the provided link and use the setup file in that download rather than the one in the QPW folder. Enjoy, NO thanks to HP!

Thanks, i have been wondering how to do this for quire some time now.
but i have 1 question.
is there a way i can install qp in windows? (without the other partition, i am no interested in the booting of it, i just want the software for windows.)
i reinstalled my copy of windows and i lost the copy.
well actually i don’t even need that. all i want is something that will allow me to make the QP and DVD buttons do something. (like make them launch Firefox or some other program)
i know that you can do this in XP but i can not find away in vista.
I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Thanks!

Ian,
I believe you can do this. I’m not sure, since I did the installation for QP 3.0 after I went through the installation process for Quickplay Direct. However, I can assure that if you download the HP Quickplay Windows file (Quickplay 3.0.rar) from http://ridickulous.net/quickplay/ and execute the setup file in the extraction from that, you are not taken to any startups or anything to boot up and change partitions. It simply installs Quickplay for Windows, I believe, without any of the boot up stuff because that, according to my conversation with HP Customer Service, applies only to HP Quickplay Direct. Now, as long as you have the Quick Launch buttons driver installed, the QP button will launch this installation of Quickplay for Windows.
Now HP claims that if you have the original backup recovery CDs, or you ordered ones if you had a back up HDD partition, you can get back QP with that XP Media Center Edition. Not only that, they also claim that if you actually got the HP Express Upgrade kit, it comes preconfigured in that installation with Vista just as it does with the original XP installation CDs.
As for just assigning the buttons a different function, I haven’t had much luck with that, I gave up that pursuit once I had QP up and running.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you need anything, CDs or something, provided you also have a dv2120us.
April 20th, 2007 at 5:42 pm
I am also using dv2120us model hp . But unfortunately ı have lost my cd so could you please send me a recovery cd for it? thanks
April 20th, 2007 at 7:32 pm
Sure, I’ll try and get something up online as an iso or rar. However, they are two CDs, and getting them up could be quite a challenge for the shoddy internet connection here in Karachi. Get me an address, maybe I can mail out CDs. I take it you’re in Turkey.
April 20th, 2007 at 8:29 pm
hi
Thank you very much for your answer and help. Yes I am in Turkey and i had xp media center installed over dv2120. I had it on my hard disk without being saved and then installed vista, After i had installed vista Quick Play didnt work. Now I have installed xp pro. I wonder how can I upgrade back to vista with qucik play working by using the cd that you will send. Do you think in order to use quick play should I re-install xp media center? Or there any other ways to do this? At the moment I have xp pro installed and allocated 1024 mb hard disk space for it and installed HPQPDP. But during start Quick Play isnt working. Do you know what should I do to solve this problem? if there are other ways to solve this proble that you know, I will wait for your answer.
Thanks
Isa

Isa,
The CDs I have are the original HP recovery discs that come with XP Media Center Edition and all the pre-installed pre-packaged software that comes with HP, including Quickplay 2.3 Direct and Quickplay for Windows (QPW). Now, if you have a copy of vista, you can make Quickplay work with vista (both direct and windows) using the instructions in the main article. The downloads are available from ridikulous.net , and the instructions.
However, if you want to consider using the edition of windows xp pro you’re still running, you might want to try following the instructions in the original article here with windows XP. I see no reason why it won’t work.
When you say “But during start Quick Play isnt working,” what is it that’s not working?
April 24th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Hi i am sorry for bothering but i would like to know this:
i have an dv 9000 with vista preinstaled so i don’t like it and have installed XP pro i’ve killed all the partitions and started from scratch.Everything works fine but after i folowed your instructions for quick play installation from step one to nine after reboot machine won’t boot!!!
So becouse i dont have any kind of important data,i’ve booted from XP installation disk and my hard has lost information about partitions!!!So i would like to know where i did wrong?
i had partition x: 1028 mb like you told and downloaded .rar file extracted it run setup everything went fine until reboot. Also is there any kind of event when i reboot after installation that gives a clue what happend and for how long i should keep waiting after reboot!!!??
thanks
April 24th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
Nesko,
An apology is not necessary. The page is open for discussion.
Let me see if I understand what you’ve said. You have Windows XP Pro installed on just one partition. You went through the routine of creating a RAW parition at the end of your HDD again with the 1028 MB parition at the end of of your HDD. You then downloaded the hpqdp.rar file and went through the installation process with it. Then, when you rebooted, your machine won’t boot. What does it do? Do you get to the Windows XP splash screen?
Now, I haven’t installed QP on windows xp myself without original HP recovery discs. But here’s one thing I’m sure of; your BIOS has a different flash version for Windows XP and it has a different version for Windows Vista. If you haven’t flashed it with the XP flash, chances are you will have a problem. I believe this applies primarily to AMD based laptops. See for instance, the Bios Flash Update for the dv9000 CTO here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1842189&lang=en. Since your machine came pre-configured with Vista, you will need this to fix bootup issues, especially when you have a raw partition running to start up Quickplay.
Another thing: did you try and reboot your PC after you made the partitions? Or, did you make the partitions, run the hpqdp set up file, and then reboot. If you’re running windows XP, you need to reboot after you define the RAW X: partition. Only after you will you actually complete the partition. Then, after the this first reboot, you should try running the hpqdp setup, and it should work, provided you have your BIOS flashed for Win XP. If you’ve tried all the other stuff, let me know, and I’ll try working this out on a Win XP Pro machine. Plus, I’ve had several inquiries, so I’m considering putting up HP recovery discs for download; just need to check on the damn user agreement and potential copyright violations.
Hope that helps. Let me know if it doesn’t.
Asif.
April 24th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
You are right i did not flash the bios.
“Since your machine came pre-configured with Vista, you will need this to fix bootup issues, especially when you have a raw partition running to start up Quickplay.”
Did you mean some other issues or these issues are refering to reflashing the bios. Please advise
thanks!!!
April 24th, 2007 at 5:31 pm
Yes, I believe so. The issues you are having can be a result of the vista bios flash while attempting to boot into xp.
April 24th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
thanks man i will try and post the result
April 25th, 2007 at 3:02 am
Hi Asif
When windows if off and I try to play quickplay windows is starting to work. when i click dvd button quick player is starting to work. is this mean that its working right? my other questions is that if I install vista as well can I use both os without any problem? I will need HP”s recovery CD can you send it to me or upload to somewhere in internet
April 25th, 2007 at 10:57 am
That’s right, if those Quick launch buttons get you to QP, that means you’ve successfully installed HP Quickplay. Now, when you install Vista, no, you cannot keep windows XP too. It may be a possibility if you have 2 separate drives, one set to master and one to slave. If you install vista otherwise, it will overwrite your exisitng XP configuration. It sucks. You can, however, run OS X and Vista side by side on a Mac. Here’s one way to run XP on windows Vista using Virtual PC: http://lifehacker.com/software/windows/geek-to-live–run-windows-xp-inside-vista-with-virtual-pc-238071.php?mail2=true. Gina Trapani gives pretty good instructions here on utlizing virtual PC, but beware, it’s a sucker for RAM.
I haven’t gotten around to try uploading the CD yet. Give me 48 hours. I’ll post the results here. If it doesn’t work, you’ll have to email me a mailing address.
April 25th, 2007 at 6:57 pm
Isa,
Email me your mailing address. After RAR Compression the ISOs are 5+ GB. No way in hell is that going to upload on the internet connection I’ve got going here, 200 KBps just doesn’t cut it.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:02 am
The website http://ridickulous.net/quickplay/ is not working. Is it removed or only tempararily down.
April 27th, 2007 at 10:42 am
Alright, I’ll try uploading them. Give me 24 hours.
April 28th, 2007 at 12:07 am
Okay, since ridickulous.net is currently down, here are the links to download HPQPDP.zip (Quickplay Direct) and QPW3.0 (Quickplay for Windows 3.0):
http://www.asifism.com/downloads/quickplay/HPQPDP.zip and
http://www.asifism.com/downloads/quickplay/QPW3.0.rar.
April 30th, 2007 at 6:23 am
Asif, could you also upload QPW2.3 software? My HP came with vista, but I have downgraded to XP. Thanks.
April 30th, 2007 at 9:44 am
The links to the HPQPDP.zip files do not work. This is the error tat I get:
Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:02 am
Mahesh,
My apologies. I’ve had to take the downloads off. Someone’s bot went haywire with the QP downloads with the result that 3000 GB of available bandwidth was sucked down in less than 24 hours. If you know of a server with unlimited or higher bandwidth allowance, I’ll be more than glad to put the files up there.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:08 am
Kevin,
Try your c:\SwSetup folder. When you installed Quick play direct it should have extracted a file for Quick play for Windows 2.3 and put it in the SwSetup folder.
May 2nd, 2007 at 4:46 am
i downloaded quickplay 2.3, created a partiion usinf martition magic and assigned to it the letter X and did not format it
i ran the setup and tried to set the location for the files to be in X: but it couldnt access it, so it continued and installed on C: thus the buttons are not working when i press them while the laptop is off, they just turn on the laptop and boot into windows!
what should i do? i have an HP DV 2132ea
thank you
May 2nd, 2007 at 6:33 am
Asif,
You seem really knowledgeable about QuickPlay issues. I have lost my QPW (version was 2.3, I believe). I still have the boot Quickplay working fine. The Application Recovery CD that came with my HP dv1040 seems to have nothing to do with QuickPlay for Windows — it only helps reinstall the boot version.
Nowhere on any of my disks is there any QuickPlay for Windows reinstall, that I can find.
Can you offer me any advice, help, or files to get my QPW back? I uninstalled it a while ago, and am realising that was a huge mistake.
Any help appreciated,
Nathalia
May 2nd, 2007 at 6:34 am
(continued from above comment)
Oh, and my swsetup folder doesn’t have a quickplay folder in it, at all. In fact I searched the entire computer for “QuickPlay” and it came up empty. Thank you.
May 2nd, 2007 at 12:02 pm
Carlo,
Which file did you extract and run the set up from? hpqpdp.zip, or Quickplay 2.3 for windows? If you used hpqpdp, it would automatically install to partition X:. Also, what OS are you running? Keep in mind that HP has a different flash for the same laptop if it runs visa/and or xp. You need to have the bios flashed with the correct OS flash or QP won’t work.
If you used hpqpdp, and you’re still getting nothing, check again to see that the X: partition is at the end of the hard drive. It MUST be at the end for Quick Play to work.
May 2nd, 2007 at 12:04 pm
Nathalia, someone has posted a link for QPW 3.0 here: http://www.asifism.com/?p=51#comments. However, I believe 3.0 is not XP compatible. I’ve found a couple of file servers that may be good to upload files to. I’m going to try them out, and if I have any luck, will post the results here. If not, we can consider emailing QPW files, since they’re less than 100 MB.
And your folder could be title QPW under c:/SwSetup. But since your recovery CDs don’t have QPW on them, you will not have that folder. HP is a little screwed up like that; they never provide everything you’ll need. It’s good business that’s bad for the customer.
May 2nd, 2007 at 1:50 pm
Here’s the new link to download all 3: QPW 3.0, QPW 2.3, and HPQPDP. Files become available for download as they are uploading, and they should all be there in 10 hours or so, unless electricity goes all Pakistan on me.
Here you go:

May 2nd, 2007 at 4:59 pm
i extracted QuickPlay 2.3 for windows, i have XP installed. And my partition is at the end according to Partition magic….
Someone told me to Create a D7 partition which i didnt know how to do it, nor partition magic has this option.
any help?
thx Asif
May 2nd, 2007 at 7:12 pm
Ok, your first problem. Quickplay 2.3 for Windows is not what you need for Quickplay to work when your PC is shut. You need the Quickplay Direct, which is HPQPDP.zip, which if you didn’t download, you can download from asifism.badongo.com when it’s available there (soon, if the city of Karachi can sustain electricity for long enough!). I believe d7 is the name given to the linux partition hp pavillion laptops come with using which older versions of QP would boot. The X: partition accomplishes something along those lines, although it’s not the same thing.
How about our BIOS flash? Is it flashed with the XP version or the Vista?
May 2nd, 2007 at 7:40 pm
ok thanks,
the bios is flashed with the XP version
May 4th, 2007 at 2:25 am
Folks, here’s how to download Quick Play:

May 6th, 2007 at 11:00 am
Martin,
QP 3.0 is Windows only. This means that if you’ve installed 3.0, you will be unable to use QP Direct. If you use Quick Play Direct 2.3, you can boot into Quick Play, but you will see the windows logo most likely before you boot into it. Now, to use the Direct, you’ll need to use the HPQPDP.zip file available in the downloads section on this site. Visit the main page for more information on how to download it. Follow the instructions here and you should be good to go. Also, you will need a 1 GB unallocated partition, not 9 GB. Follow the instructions, and keep in mind the partition as to be at the END of the Hard Drive. If you’re going to get QP Direct, Arrta says here at the bottom what he did to get QP Direct to work. http://www.asifism.com/?p=57#comments.
Now, for the recovery discs, only way to get them is to order them via HP. I have recovery discs for the dv2120us, but you need to find someone with a dv9316 who has heart enough to upload 9 GB.
May 9th, 2007 at 4:05 am
Asif,
I am not very computer savy, but i really want to be able to use Quickplay with my hp5139us. Vista is not the original OS on this computer. I upgraded from Windows XP Media Center to Windows Vista Home Premium. Will the instructions at the top of this page work for me? And if they do, im not quite sure what you mean by “Hie Thee”. Sorry.lol
May 9th, 2007 at 5:03 am
Also, am i going to have flash the bios, and is that going to cause conflicts with running vista.
May 9th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
Jeremy,
First things first: Is hp5139 a dv model? The thing is, quick play direct is meant for all DV machines, and HP claims it’s not going to run on vista, but as you can see from the comments of several other people, it does work on vista. Now, you may not be able to make Quick play Direct work on your machine, but I see no reason why Quickplay for Windows won’t work.
If you have Xp, just download quick play for windows 2.3 and you can install that like any other software. If you have Vista, you can try 3.0. And yes, if hp.com shows a separate BIOS flash for vista for your machine, you need that flash too. Unless your computer has a QP button on it and a DVD button on it, I wouldn’t try installing Quickplay direct following the steps listed here.
May 9th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
Sorry i forgot to mention that it is a dv lap top. And it does have those buttons. Since I have vista does that mean im going to not be able to use the Quickplay Direct? I already installed vista on my lap top. So I don’t have Xp on here anymore. Is there still a way for me to get quickplay direct?
May 9th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
Yeah you should just follow the steps. Use the download keys on the main page to download QP.
May 9th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
Ok, and it looks like i should use 2.3 instead of 3 for the direct play to work right?
May 10th, 2007 at 12:20 am
Direct Play is only version 2.3, which is hpqpdp.zip. For Quick Play for Windows, either version will work with vista.
May 11th, 2007 at 2:03 am
Asif,
I’m sorry but there is nowhere for me to get direct play. Do you think you could post another place to download it from. I think all the other places timed out or something.
May 11th, 2007 at 2:19 am
Jeremy,
Go to http://www.asifism.com/dowloader.
Enter this key: c49980a086bddccf5b714eaf92c879a9. Press Enter.
You can either download all the HPQPDP parts and HPQPDP.zip or just get HPQPDP_FULL.zip. That’s the file you need.
May 11th, 2007 at 10:01 am
Asif,
I keep trying to extract the files from the zip folder but I keep getting this message that says “the same volume cannot be used as the source and destination”.
May 11th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
You’re not supposed to extract the files from the zip folder. You’re supposed to extract the whole zipped file and then just run setup.exe. Do not try to extract the datab.can files.
May 12th, 2007 at 2:03 am
Asif, the link to that download page you had before is expired and so is that key you gave me. Neither of them worked. Could you give me the new things and tell what i have to download exactly on that page. When i downloaded the HPQPDP_Full, i tried to open it and it was completely empty. Am I able to follow all these instructions at the top of this page using Vista?
May 18th, 2007 at 8:42 pm
Hello, I have a custom ordered HP laptop originally packed with VISTA junk! I’ve been trying to “upgrade” to WindowsXP Pro SP2 but failed on QuickPlay. I’ve got both QPDP and QPW. I can’t get QPDP to install correctly after the first reboot because of a driver problem. QPDP doesn’t include the Microsoft UAA Bus driver that’s necessary to load the audio driver. I get Driver not found for MEDIA error on reboot and QPDP hangs at 95% before restarting into windows. When I press the media touchbutton, only windows will load.
I’ve installed QPW in windows XP pro but had to manually set the media key to load quicklay. Isn’t it supposed to assign it automatically?
Something’s fishy and I do’nt nkow what, please help!
Thanks
May 18th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
OK, Sean. So you have a custom laptop. Do you know if your Motherboard or Bus is different from the one that comes with the pre-packaged dv2000 series? If, in fact it is, then there’s only one way to solve your problem: YOU need to get the drivers for that bus. which is the exact laptop you customized?
You’ll have to manually download your bus drivers from the hp.com drivers and support section for the laptop you further customized. Then you extract all the data.cab files and look for the bus device drivers that are in those files, and you replace them with the drivers for your MB. I’ll open up the data files to see what I can do, but I’ll need a couple of days. This probably won’t happen until Sunday, so you’ve got to bare with me. Get me the base laptop model, I’ll see what I can do.
Also, keep in mind that with XP Pro the DVD button will boot into QP Direct and the QP button starts windows to start QPW. Also, make sure you have the latest Quck launch buttons driver. For the dv2120us, this driver is not available on the web site, but only through HP Update.
And dude, you gotta stick to posting comments to one article; this jumping around is painful.
May 22nd, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Asif,
Thank you so much. I finally got it to work and I owe it all to you. The only problem I’m having now is I don’t know how to get music into quickplay to use when using Direct Play. Please, if you have any suggestions, let me know.
May 23rd, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Jeremy,
You’re welcome. There’s got to be a simple way to browse into your music directory or folder. I haven’t tried playing my music with QPD, just movies. But I’ll check it out tonight and get back to ya.
Asif.
May 25th, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Jeremy,
You’ll have to put your music in the shared music folder in windows XP. If you have any music or videos over there there, you can see it all in Quick Play Direct.
May 26th, 2007 at 1:30 am
Ok, but i don’t have xp anymore. All i have on this computer is Vista.
May 26th, 2007 at 2:41 am
Okay. Then you use the shared music folder in Vista.
July 5th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Hi, I am having trouble installing QuickPlay Direct 2.3 on my Windows Vista machine. I created the unallocated space just as described but the installation gets 15% and the comes up with this error:
ComponentMoveData had the following error:
Component: QuickPlay Component
File Group:
File:
Error Number: -2147418113
I thought it might be because QuickPlay 3.0 was installed, but I uninstalled it and get the same error.
Any ideas as to why I might be getting this? Thanks!
December 9th, 2007 at 12:22 pm
Please provde fresh link for HP Quick play 2.3 I have been trying all your ways described above but none is working. The downloader key is also not valid anymore !!

January 14th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Hi. I have a Toshiba EX2515LDSTW, which originally came with Japanese XPHome and has a multimedia player keyboard/remote. It had a QuickPlay 2.0 preinstalled when I got it(still have the original quickplay recovery disk, but it doesn’t work). Late in December, My HDD failed, so I replaced it myself and installed XP Home -English. Everything works fine, BUT the multimedia panel. I’m hoping the QuickPlay Direct will work on my pc. I haven’t been able to find ANY help or info online anywhere. My old HDD was unrecoverable, even using the preinstalled HD recovery from Toshiba. Any guidance you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I need help
I have an HP DV2120CA laptop that recently decided not to boot up into windows.
It would turn on, flash the HP logo and the screen will stay blank,
I tried to reinstall windows on it but a lot of the drivers were missing,
I tried to download the drivers off of the HP website but a lot of them failed to install.
Is there any way I can either download or get a copy of the recovery cds without going through HP?
I desperately need your help!
Thank you in advanced

Tom,
Well, here’s some news for you: the recovery CDs i had for the dv2120us did not work, so I tossed them. However, the drivers from the HP site did work for the 2120CA; I can only suggest trying those again. My sympathies that you are stuck with a 2120. It was my most horrid experience with a laptop. You will have to go through HP, my friend.

There’s no patch. Which two files do you have when you extract the download? There should be only one executable.

Giacomo,
Have a look at Richard’s comments on the following post. He was able to resolve the issue with the Registry fix posted here.

Hey all, I was wondering if someone can help with this issue, I’ve installed Quickplay on my HP DV6000 but when i press the quickplay button only DVD Play opens, i can’t get to the quickplay menu no matter what i do. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling still no success.
Thanks in advance

Hi Asif! Thanks a lot…I Have followed the instruction of Richard’s post, I have fixed the register key and the Setup Program has installed the QuickPlay Correctly!!! But I have found some problems:
1) The Quick Play button and DVD button doesn’t work (All the others yes)…If I press it I can’t reveal not even the exadecimal code with program like AutoHotKey in keyHistory
2) If I try to play music on whichever format (mp3,wma,wav) QuickPlay start but I see only a black screen and the loading hourglass (I have to do Ctrl-Alt-Canc to shut down the unresponding application)
Why???
My machine is a HP dv6755el and I downgrade from vista to Xp (S.P. 2 and all works correctly). I tried to install QPW 2.3…Maybe I have to try with 3.0?? Maybe I have to try with QPD or HPQPDP???
Thanks a lot
Regards

sorry Asifim…I remove the HP Quick Play and reinstall again…and now all works properly…Only one little problem:
I cant start the application by the quick launch button (Quick play button and DVD button) but only by clicking on the desktop icon.
N.B. These two fucking button seems to works because if the laptop is shut down, I can turn on it by clicking one of these two button…(But they can’t bring me on media center mode….they simply turn on the machine)
Thanks again…and sorry for my english
