Hi Asif,

OK I confirm that its an installshield cab and was able to see ALL the files using Zipscan v2.2c. Ultimate Zip can't read the cab files. Now for the difficult part - incorporating or amending the drivers. I don't think Zipscan can do anything apart from read what's inside the cab file. I'll have to search for another program to do the extract and re-pack.

Hi David,

Once again, I apologize for not being able to do this over the weekend. I have a deliverable due for a software development project on Thursday, and I absolutely must get that done first.

To access the CAB files, and add to them, you'll need a program like Ultimate Zip. http://www.ultimatezip.com/download.htm.

Note that there are two kinds of CAB files, an installshield cab archive and a microsoft CAB archive. I belive this is an installshield compression, so it doesn't contain the HTM file that accompanies a microsoft file and can be used to uncompress the archive.

Truth is, my knowledge of CAB files is restricted, but I think utlimatezip will put you on the right track. If I can complete my deliverable tomorrow, I will look at extracting making the addition tomorrow.

Hi Asif,
In order to help with the tweaking of QPD, can you let me know how to access the cab files so I can try and incorporate the drivers which I uploaded. I tried accessing the cab files using WinRAR but it doesn't recognise the file. We can help each other to lighten your workload and get QPD to install on more up to date laptops.

No Donsnok. Quick Play 2.3 Direct was the only version that would boot without booting into your main OS installation. All Quickplay 3.0+ versions are QuickPlay for Windows only and run like any other application on your OS.

The problem is, in all likeliness, driver incompatibility. The compilation that is available for download is pretty old, so I guess it's about time that it gets an update.
No worries about the time. We've all got to do this and other things in our spare time, so I completely understand.
Cheriyan hasn't really explained what he/she means by not being able to boot. Some people get boot errors due to multiple partitions, too. Others see the BSD due to driver incompatibility.

Hi Asif,

Thanks for the reply. I think on second thoughts you may be right about it not being a SATA issue. I will compile a set of drivers (including the SATA ones just in case) since I had to get them from across several HP models and upload them to Rapid Share. Once I have done that I will give you the links. I'm also busy, so please give me a few days. I'll get back to you.
I suspect Cheriyan is having the same problems and it may not be as simple as a Bios flash. I didn't do anything to my Bios when I changed to XP from the factory installed Vista and still managed to install XP and QP successfully.

Hey Cheriyan.

You need to visit the page on hp.com for your laptop. If there is a separate flash for Windows XP, you need the one for windows XP to make Quickplay irect 2.3 work, since QPD 2.3 runs on a standalone installation of Windows XP.
