Just some information for people who may have the same type of problem. Yes, I had the problems listed on the link due to AIM, but I'm checking my error/event logs, and it seems that when I installed VM Player, it some how corrupted my WMI for Vista. It might be because I used an older release that was created before Vista, don't know. Anyway, I got my BIOS updated by dual-booting into XP, so I have XP's BIOS, and I installed QP Direct from there, and it worked. Thanks for providing the downloads!

I'm sure you'll be able to. It seems like a corrupt WMI can cause a variety of problems, so it may just be benficial to re-install everything anyway.

Oh well, I was planning on reinstalling the entire system in a couple weeks anyway. I guess I'll just hope that I can install the QP Direct then. Don't know what I'm going to do about the BIOS update though...thanks for the help.

This is new, if you can't even install the BIOS upgrade or downgrade, well, something else is certainly wrong. I've done more research and the ,Unbranded even allows installation of QuickPlay on other machines (although it may NOT work with QuickPlay Direct because the appropriate drivers may no t be part of the QPD package).
Have you followed the instructions on how to fic computers to fix the corrupt WMI? That seems to be the only way to do it, and it is something that I've seen for the first time, so yes, you may actually have to a virgin install of the operating system for us to see if that is what's causing the problem and nothing else is.

I think I've found the problem, still can't fix it though. It seems AIM 6.5 corrupts many things in vista. http://www.howtofixcomputers.com/forums/windows-vista/aim-6-5-causes-audio-loss-wmi-corruption-91021.html. Well, I've been albe to fix all the problems except the corrupt WMI, which is where the vendor information is stored. Since the WMI is corrupt, it's returning some odd response when CLscan goes looking for the manufacturer. Anyway to fix this, or do I have to completely reinstall the OS?

Just got the error for system Hewlett-Packard,Unbranded... I've got it flashed with the original, so I guess Vista? I get the same type of error when I tried to update the BIOS, it said the I had to be a system administrator and that the system was not Hewlett-Packard. I was using the root administrator profile and also this is a genuine HP, don't know what the problem is. I've got to go to work, so I won't be able to respond immediately.

Okay this ,Unbranded thing is supposed to work. The rating can be calculated, but not picking up RAM could be an issue. What is your BIOS flashed with, the XP or Vista flash?

It says manufacturer Hewlett-Packard, which is what CLScan was originally. Although I seem to have found another sign that I have a problem. The system page doesn't recognize what processor/RAM I have, and it can't rate my system.
