I had the same problem as Kaushik (launch buttons not working) which I solved by turning off the laptop, removing the battery and pressing the on button for 30 seconds, thus hard rebooting the laptop. It might not work in his case but it did for me.

I have a fresh install of Vista (not from recovery) then I tried to installed the HPQPDP but always got this error:

"Quickplay can only be installed in a QuickPlay-enabled machine"

I'm using HP Pavilion dv2000 series (model dv2715nr)

I just installed Vista using full format on my dv2715nr. (I messed up with the system and there is no other way to use the recovery partition and luckily I don't made a recovery disk.)

I'm following the step "http://www.asifism.com/installing-hp-quickplay-on-your-laptopnotebook-vista-xp/" but I'm having problem installing HPQPDP I always get the error message:
"QuickPlaycan only be Installed in QuickPlay-enabled machine"

any ideas? Thanks

Nourredine,

Please use the version available for download here. Somehow there is a problem when extracting with all other versions.

Kaushik,

Try QPW 3.0, that has the ability to view pictures too, I believe.

For Quick Launch buttons, you will have to get the driver from the hp site. Just visit the page for your notebook PC, and you'll find a link to the driver there for the Quick Launch Buttons.

Let me know if there are any problems.

Regards,

Asif.

Dear Asif,
I am using an HP dv2000t with vista home basic as the OS.
The NB is about a year old now. Things were fine uptil about 2 weeks ago when i realised that the Quick Play buttons above the keyboard (the blue, touch sensitive buttons) stopped working. I just couldnt use them to toggle the volume, mute/unmute, start QuickPlay, or play the DVD's.
Inquisitive as i was, i started messing around with the system eventually uninstalling the entire quickplay software. this I did after seeing that on ur site is the link to download the latest version.
After uninstalling, and then Installing the v3.6 from here, i realised that it is just the DVD play and not the entire QuickPlay thats been installed.
I now really miss the entire Quickplay Package that comes with the music player, picture viewer, and the DVD player?
Could you please help me by advising what I need to do with both the full quick play software and the non-functioning blue buttons.
Thanks a million,
Kaushik
