I can't find hpqpdp 2.3 anywhere where I can get a download. Closest thing I got was a .rar from this strange site without cab2 or 3. Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest using the information here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022.

Add something like:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Windows XP for QP Direct" /fastdetect

to your boot.ini.

This is given that you have a total of 3 partitions, the QPD being the last one.

George, it's excellent that the audio problem is fixed.

As for more than 1+ partitions and a quickplay partition, I had the same problem. I got rid of my second partition for QPD to work. I've done hours of research on this, and for some folks it works, while for others it doesn't work.

I didn't invest any time into editing boot.ini. If you're going to do that, be prepared to loose everything a couple of times before you get it right. The trick, I believe, does lie in editing boot.ini. I'll see if I can find something in this regard.

Has anyone been able to get Quickplay Direct to boot with more than one partition plus the 1028 mb Direct partition with Windows XP? I loaded Windows XP on a primary partition and Quickplay Direct on the 1028 mb primary partition. Quickplay Direct booted from the quick launch buttons and worked fine . I then used Partition Magic to split the Windows Primary partition into two partitions, a Primary for Windows and an Extended (Logical) Partition for data. After that. Quickplay Direct failed to boot indicating that it couldn't find the boot.ini and some dll files.

Perhaps there is a way to change the boot.ini to accommodate more than one windows partition.

Asif, Quickplay Direct 2.3 fixed the audio problem that I was having with version 2.1.

I don't see anyway to uninstall Quickplay Direct 2.1 since the files in the 1028mb partition are not viewable in Windows XP. Should I try to install Direct 2.3 over the top of 2.1 or should I delete and then reinstall the 1028mb partition?

I have completed downloading the Zip files and combining them into a directory. I couldn't burn them to a CD since the files are 706 MB which is too large for a 700 MB CD.

Thanks

Sorry, I screwed up. I meant to say Quickplay 2.3. Thanks for the offer to help.

I have Quickplay 3.0 from Vista SWSetup that came on the laptop. I also have the HP digital TV card that came with the laptop but HP doesn't list any drivers for it other than Vista. That will be my next project once I get Quickplay Direct working. I was debating loading XP Media Center but don't know if it qualifies for the Terminal Server license under Windows Server 2000. I use Terminal Server to connect to the office.

I liked the Vista interface but it runs much slower than XP. Also, couldn't get some software that I use often to work in Vista.

George, does QPW 3.0 work fine with Windows XP? That's definitely notable and worth mentoning on the front page, because that's something that hasn't worked for anyone before. I personally have not tried it.

I've uploaded a new 21 part HPQPDP download. Here's the instructions: http://www.asifism.com.

As for the sound card problem. I'm busy with some deliverables these next couple of days, but I will look into it after that. You see, the sound card drivers are stored in one of the data.cab files, and what we need to do is ADD the drivers for your sound card to the apporpriate file, and then make an entry in the autorun file so the driver installation executes when the PC boos from X: during the QP Direct Play Installation.

The Quick launch problem that you hare having, is that in Direct Play or QPW? And if you can see in Direct Play the Volume toggle between 0 and 10, it's highly likely that QPD QLDB audio buttons don't know how to react in the event that a sound card is not detected. Try with QPD 2.3, and if that doesn't work, the next step will be tweaking around with the data.cab files.

I downgraded an HPdv6275us from Vista to XP Pro. I installed Quickplay 3.0 and Quickplay Direct 2.1 per Asif's instructions. I only have the main windows partition and the 1028 MB partition for Quickplay Direct. By the way, I left the 1028 MB partition unallocated. HPQPDP
converted the partition to NTSF and assigned it X: I couldn't find a download for Quickplay Direct 2.3. I tried Asif's download of HPQPDP but the download terminated short of 100 mb twice; so I gave up. I found a torrent for 2.1 which downloaded but took about two days to download.

QuickPlay 3.0 works fine within Windows. Quickplay Direct boots up OK and I can navigate the screens but can't get any audio. DVDs play video but no sound. Same with Music CDs. I tried the Sound Setup within Quickplay Direct but the sound options were blank; so I guess the audio driver is incorrect. Also, the Quick Launch Volum buttons don't work right. On decreasing volume it goes immediately to 0 and on increasing it goes to 10. Nothing in between.

Any ideas how I can fix the sound problem, find and load the correct audio driver? Any possibility 2.3 will work better?

New Key is posted. Dan, I'm uploading each data.cab file. It's in the same folder as QP Direct. Try using those archives.
