  3. Andrew Says:

    Hello,

I was trying to instal HPQPDP but in 60% ofinstallation I was asked about disc 0 and file data5.cab. In downloaded archiwe there is no data5.cab?

    Can Yo help me?

    Thanks in advance…

  4. Dan Says:

Ok, I’m moving here now :) But I have a question… data3.cab from your QuickPlay Direct directory has just 78.3 Mb ?? Because I have already data3.cab from the first archive files and has 286 Mb. Thanks

    PS: Now I’m downloading data4.cab.

  5. Asif Says:

There is no data5.cab. Which laptop do you have? Which BIOS flash do you have it flashed with? And does this happen while you’re installing in winxp?

  6. Asif Says:

Dan, damn electricity is out for 5 hours a day in this dump hole I have to call home for now. I’m still uploading data3. Wait, it is the size u say it is.

  7. Asif Says:

    No problem, John!

  8. Andrew Says:

    Dear Asif,

I have HP pavilion 6326 (remote control and information that it is designed for Quicplay), win XP. I didn’t flash bios - It wasn’t change since I bought it. I have version with vista on partition but I didn’t install it (I prefer WIN XP).

I made some unalocated space, put HPQPDP into c:\SWSETUP an start with installation. I have started it in XP. During installation setup program create 1GB partition called “X”.

Than after 60% installation progres it is stopped and I recieve additional window:

“Please insert disc 0 that contains the file data5.cab.” and field to choose localisation on Your computer?

I am confused… What am I doing wrong? I have new computer (I bought it 4 days ago) and It was designed for Quickplay direct so I thougt that flashing bios wasn’t nescessary???

  9. Asif Says:

Andrew, how come your machine didn’t with Quick play Direct? Now here’s the problem, did you install vista on it yourself? If so, what format are each of these partitions?

Also, you need to create the 1GB partition BEFORE you start the installation. What version of Vista have you installed, and if you want to keep XP, get rid of the Vista and then give it a shot. To OS means dual boot which equals trouble. Let me know.

  10. Andrew Says:

    Asif,

I didn’t install VISTA. I have only XP - one system. In my HP pavilion there is VISTA install folder on hard drive (HP doesn’t give CD or DVD anymore). If I want I can install VISTA but I didn’t.

All partitions are in NTFS. 1GB was created by HPQPDP during installation and it already exist as X but is empty.
So now I have C,D,E,X partitions.

HPQPDP is in c:\SWSETUP, 1GB X partition is created, I “push setup” in HPQPDP and again I have problem :( dat5.cab after 60% of installation progress…

  11. Andrew Says:

    One more thing,

I recieved my HP with Vista and Quickplay 3.0 (for Vista) - but I don’t need VISTA now. I want XP and that’s why I have to instal Quickplay 2.3. I am using WIN XP HE

  12. Asif Says:

Okay, you need to get rid of your recovery partition, the one that has all the recovery and setup discs info etc. etc. But first, make a copy of those discs. Then, you get rid of vista, so all you have is C:\ for a partition. Then you allocate 1GB space and name it X: And then you run the hpqpdp setup file. That should go over smoothly.

  13. Andrew Says:

    Asif,

    It doesn’t work. I give up :.(

  14. Asif Says:

What’s the problem? Get me details. Never give up; it’s a motto you need to adopt to successfully continue using HP products.

  15. Sean Says:

Hi Asif, I’ve downloaded QP Direct 2.3 and installed. I have problem with Audio during BOOT installationg of QP because Microsoft UAA Bus Driver is relatively new (on my customized laptop). Do you know any way around this driver issue?

Also, do you have QPW files anywhere uploaded? Does QPW need to be there for QPD to work?

    Andrew
:There was turbulence when downloading your files. I’ve succeeded only after 5 attempts. The zip parts are corrupt, you’ll need to check that. Just retry a couple of times on the FULL zip file. If it completes 100% (i.e.: you can unzip it), then you’re all set for installation.

I have a customized dv2200 with SATA and windows vista. Trying to downgrade also.

  16. Asif Says:

    Sean,

Several people have complained about the zipped parts being corrupt. Don’t know what the problem is. I’ve uploaded them several times; just lose something during the split up, I guess.

QPW 2.3 and 3.0 are both available for download on asifism.com/downloader. There’s a different key for these files that’s floating around on the site. Just browse the HP, Quickplay and Vista category of posts and you’ll run across that key. I believe it still works. It did 48 hours ago. If it doesn’t let me know and I’ll have a new one posted asap.

Now, you say you’re having a problem with the Microsoft Bus driver. Exactly what laptop model to you have? Is it a dv2200 or 2210us or 2210tc or something like that or what? If you’re tyring to downgrade to XP, I would do that before installing QuickPlay Direct, because you’ll have to re-install it after you go back to XP. Get me the exact laptop number, and what driver you have installed for your UAA Bus and your Sound Card. On Windows XP, which QPD runs on, you need a certain UAA Driver before Windows XP will detect your sound card, something that’s really weird and fucked up. However, the HPQPDP package contains that driver. Let’s start with exact laptop model number and I’ll try and look up the specs and stuff elsewhere.

Oh and you don’t need Quick Play for Windows for Quick play Direct to run.
