  • Hung

Hi have tried, but got the same, window vista still starting. I’m sure that hpqpdp has been installed on partition X.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

How many partitions in total do you have? What laptop model do you have? You will most likely have problems if you have X: and more than one other partitions. Just having c: and x: means it will work. If you have have c:, d: and x:, then on some models it won’t work.

  • Hung

Oh, My device is DV6653cl, I have C, D and E before install HPQPDP :D . I’m understand now, I will trying to reinstall with C and X only, but can I create more new partition (again) after install ?
Thanks and sorry for my English.
    Regards

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

That is something you will have to try and let us know about. On the dv2120us, you couldn’t add partitions. The moment you added one, QuickPlay Direct stopped working.

Don’t worry about the English; it’s all good.

  • Hung

    Hi Asif.
Thank you for all, that mean I’m unable to create any more partition ? My device will always runing with C and X only ?
    Regards

  • Faisal

Hello, can QuickPlay be installed on HP Pavilion desktops?

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

It could be, but I don’t think you need it on a desktop machine. The whole idea is saving battery life by running only the necessary components.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

Hung, on the dv2120 I had, I could only use QuickPlay with C & X. If I added another partition, QuickPlay Direct malfunctioned, even though I tried to amend the boot sequence.

  • Uofmbum

Hey, I think you said this has been answered before, but I can’t find the fix. When I try to install any version of QuickPlay, it returns the error that the software can only be installed on Hewlett-Packard Systems. I’ve got 3.0 installed right now in Vista, and HP’s official updates don’t work either. If someone could repost the fix, or lead me to the right page I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

What version are you trying to install? What is the notebook model? The installation files actually have the check built in to them, and yes, there is a way to change them, but that was on my old laptop, which i had to send back to HP because it became a victim of bad quality.

I will have to revisit the Quickplay installation file structure. You say you get the problem with any version of quickplay. Which one have you tried installing?

  • uofmbum

I’ve tried installing 2.0, 2.3, 3.0, and 3.6 all returned the same error. HP’s techsupport couldn’t help so I’m hoping someone can help me. I’m running a HP Dv9235nr. It’s got the factory installed OS and all the software I put on it is legit, so I’m not sure why HP doesn’t recognize it as a Hewlett-Packard system.

  • uofmbum

Perhaps my last post didn’t go through? Sorry, I wasn’t on my normal computer then. I’ve tried installing 2.0,2.3,3.0,3.6 Ultimately I want the direct version or at least 3.6 to work. I’m running a HP Dv9235nr with Vista Home Premium.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

Okay. For QuickPlay for Windows, anything below v 3.0 won’t work on Vista.

I’m not sure if HP has built in some kind of layer to invalidate installation of QuickPlay, because they had ever intention of doing it, since they’ve already officially taken the stance of QuickPlay Direct not being stable and that they won’t support it.

Here’s what you can do. For QPW 3.0, try amending the custom.ini file. It has vendor identification and stuff, and just try removing the line that says Hewlett Packard, or try changing it to none. If the line is simply removed, there’s a chance that identification of the manufacture may be bypassed. Also, I would suggest you try with the Quickplay Direct download, but there is a problem there if your laptop is very new. The drivers in the 2.3 download are most likely going to be compatible with products pre mid to end 2007 only; at least that is my understanding, so installing that could give you boot issues, among other tings.

When did you purchase your laptop, and what, approximately is the manufcaturing date?

  • ufombum

I tried changing the custom.ini changed vender/vendor CLscans to None, and also tried removing them all, still returned the same error. I tried emptying the custom.ini and got the error now that it can only be installed on a CyberLink system… my goal is to use the Quickplay Direct which I downloaded (700mb~ish thing right?) it has the same error. I purchased the laptop the first week of Feb, ’07 right when Vista came out. I did this so I could make sure I could revert to XP if there were problems since the system was manufactured in Dec ’06.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

At what stage during the installation do you get the error?

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

And, are you running a 32 or 64 bit operating system?

  • ufombum

I can double-click on the setup.exe, it starts unpacking? (a progress bar moves along) and when it reaches the end it pops up the error. I also went through line by line and whatever I put into the CLscan line pops up as the system I can install it on. Could one of the files the CLscan checks be corrupt/missing?

  • ufombum

32 bit, although the processor support 64.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

Okay, under your My Computer Properties, check to see what your manufacturer is. Make sure that the manufacturer is exactly the same as the CLScan value in the custom.ini file. Apparently that’s where it’s identifying it from.

  • ufombum

It says manufacturer Hewlett-Packard, which is what CLScan was originally. Although I seem to have found another sign that I have a problem. The system page doesn’t recognize what processor/RAM I have, and it can’t rate my system.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

    Okay, try this:

    CLScan=Hewlett-Packard,Unbranded

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

Okay this ,Unbranded thing is supposed to work. The rating can be calculated, but not picking up RAM could be an issue. What is your BIOS flashed with, the XP or Vista flash?

  • ufombum

Just got the error for system Hewlett-Packard,Unbranded… I’ve got it flashed with the original, so I guess Vista? I get the same type of error when I tried to update the BIOS, it said the I had to be a system administrator and that the system was not Hewlett-Packard. I was using the root administrator profile and also this is a genuine HP, don’t know what the problem is. I’ve got to go to work, so I won’t be able to respond immediately.

  • ufombum

I think I’ve found the problem, still can’t fix it though. It seems AIM 6.5 corrupts many things in vista. http://www.howtofixcomputers.com/forums/windows-vista/aim-6-5-causes-audio-loss-wmi-corruption-91021.html. Well, I’ve been albe to fix all the problems except the corrupt WMI, which is where the vendor information is stored. Since the WMI is corrupt, it’s returning some odd response when CLscan goes looking for the manufacturer. Anyway to fix this, or do I have to completely reinstall the OS?

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

This is new, if you can’t even install the BIOS upgrade or downgrade, well, something else is certainly wrong. I’ve done more research and the ,Unbranded even allows installation of QuickPlay on other machines (although it may NOT work with QuickPlay Direct because the appropriate drivers may no t be part of the QPD package).
Have you followed the instructions on how to fic computers to fix the corrupt WMI? That seems to be the only way to do it, and it is something that I’ve seen for the first time, so yes, you may actually have to a virgin install of the operating system for us to see if that is what’s causing the problem and nothing else is.

  • arif

    any new key for download?
    the key doest work anymore

    thanks

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

    Coming shortly.

  • ufombum

Oh well, I was planning on reinstalling the entire system in a couple weeks anyway. I guess I’ll just hope that I can install the QP Direct then. Don’t know what I’m going to do about the BIOS update though…thanks for the help.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

I’m sure you’ll be able to. It seems like a corrupt WMI can cause a variety of problems, so it may just be benficial to re-install everything anyway.

  • ufombum

Just some information for people who may have the same type of problem. Yes, I had the problems listed on the link due to AIM, but I’m checking my error/event logs, and it seems that when I installed VM Player, it some how corrupted my WMI for Vista. It might be because I used an older release that was created before Vista, don’t know. Anyway, I got my BIOS updated by dual-booting into XP, so I have XP’s BIOS, and I installed QP Direct from there, and it worked. Thanks for providing the downloads!

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

Glad you finally got it to work!

Is There Anything That Causes The Quickplay/Dvd Button To Stop Doing The Direct Launch?

  • richard

    can u help me????
    thx,

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

Cianide, what notebook are you using. And are you sure you have QP Direct installed? If you don’t, the QuickPlay button will always boot into the OS and launch QP for windows.

  • http://www.asifism.com Asif

    Richard,
What did you try to install when it asked you to install QP 2.3 first? What operating system are you using?

I assume you are referring to your webcam. Do you have the latest driver installed? There have been several updates on hp.com for the webcam.

  • Martin

Hi Asif, I’ve been following this forum for quite a while now, but I still couldn’t find a solution for my HP Pavilion tx 2050eg problem. Installation fails due to missing SATA drivers. Is there some progress on this issue?

  • http://www.asifism.com Commie B

    Hi Martin,

If you are sure the issue is missing SATA drivers, there is bad news. There hasn’t been any progress on the SATA front, primarily because we’ll need a copy of installshield to extract the CAB files, add more and new drivers and then repack it. Installshield isn’t quite that cheap and hardly anyone is willing to donate money.

  • Martin

isn’t there a workaround like with sata drivers integration in win xp installation using nlite? just wondering…
