New HP QuickPlay Keys
So sorry for the delay in the keys guys. I had to prepare a petition to defend myself in court, and it came up to an awful 2000 pages, and I had to make five copies of that for submission. Now I need:
1. An attorney to file a lawsuit in the US Supreme Court. Someone white, but NOT racist. I have to be racist by choosing white here because those who make decisions are racist, and so I need to play their game. Civil suit, suing the Department of Homeland Security for ICE’s violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act and CFR 8. Any takers, please let me know.
2. I need a lawyer for the UK. Again someone who’s not a racist pig, and can actually get through to someone after understanding what the case is. The Brits are bad about cutting people off and saying ‘yes’ without knowing what the hell is going on (Tony Blair so did that with Bush), and I need someone who’s a tad smarter than that.
Now, here are the long-awaiter keys for http://downloads.asifism.com.
QuickPlay Direct 2.3 Full: cb87980f001c01f152d703eec4158834
QuickPlay Direct 2.3 Sliced: ff925eb5954d6a60a1a81c432082b5b8
QuickPlay for Windows 2.3 and 3.0: 0748a7beed64ee6f2f44a9186f910336

I have downloaded the QPD full twice, but I get different results. In the second attempt, the file HPQPD file is 2884156 and contains 3 files,
data1 is 1,277,499 - fails with an error saying unknown format or damaged
data2 is 283623352 - seems to extract files ok
data3 is 287617600. - fails CRC checking
The first download does not have data3 and says the archive is not complete.
Any ideas ? I am using WinRAR 3.62 evaluation copy. Should I be using something else ?
Thanks
Tony
PS. I am going to try the download again on another PC and see what happens.

Hi, Asif
Excuse me for my langage errors but english isn’t my first langage…
I bought a few weeks ago, a tx1020ea from HP (vista), and I was happy to think i could use a quick-launch-player on it.
But, i quickly saw that quickplay direct wasn’t installed on my brand new notebook…
i have been searching any apdate, fix, patch or anything to solve this problem around the net, but no results.
Disapointed…
But I saw your site, and it gave me a new wave of hope !
So :
T H A N K Y O U ! ! !
Now, the problem for me is to know if the way you show to restore QPD can work on a tx1000 with vista on it…
I write from my job office, so i’ll try it this evening…
I ‘ll tell you the result tomorrow…
PS : Could you tell me what is the best way to create partitions on my hdd without erasing the main c: and the recovery ?
Thank you again, and all the most important :
good luck with your court matter.
August 2nd, 2007 at 6:11 pm
the data2.cab says that it is not an MS cab file using winzip 11 and 11.1. It would be helpful to know exactly what tools I should use Winzip Winrar and what versions to unzip these tools
In the meantime I will try and download the sliced version and see if I can get any of this to work… though I suspect that I am just wasting my time
thanks

Hi !
:
Results are bad
At the first try, I partitionned (with bootit ng) a 1035 Mb space between the main partition (C:) and the recovery partition (D:). I called it X: and I didn’t format it. I reboot the system and i lanch C:\swsetup\HPQPD\setup.exe.
It installs all it all, and invites me to reboot, what I do.
Here is the problem : At this point, the system boots automatically (quickplay button or not)n, but it only displays a winXP loading screen, and then, a blue error screen that invites me to check my hdd…
At the second try, I did boot on bootit ng, and then erased the partition X:.
Then, all return normal and the system boots on C: with Vista.
I use partion magic 8 this time, and I move the free space partition to the end of the HDD, after the C: and the D:. In vista, that free space is recognized as drive F:. I give it the letter X with the PC management tool, and I relaunch setup.exe from hpqpdp.
Here is the problem again : Exactly the same problem as the first try. Blue screen
Then, I reboot on bootit again and erase the partition, and all return standard…
Could you tell me what should I do ? I can give you more information about what I did if you need…
I thank you very much by advance, and I wish you a nice day (or night, I don’t know with the time shift ;-))

Tony,
The file is 695+ MB if you download the full version.
August 3rd, 2007 at 2:17 pm
Hey Milamber, I’m sorry you’re having trouble with QP Direct installation.
First, the partition X: needs to be at the end of the HDD. That means, you would have C:, D:, and then X:. However, it would do you a lot of good to rid yoursefl of D:, and just stick to X and C. That works, and I have personally had problems with multiple partitions along with others, but I’ve seen no consistency in the model number or reason yet, so it’s hard to tell why exactly it won’t work with Muleiple Partitions.
Also, don’t use partition magic, it doesn’t work right with Vista and will screw everything up. Stick to using the Windows PC Storage Management tool, which allows you to play around with partitions in Vista.
So, X: should be after C and should be 1028 MB. Then, you run X:\swsetup\hpqpdp and wait for it to install and reboot your machine. When it reboots, it will boot into XP off of X: and install QP Direct. Then the machine restarts and will take you into Vista. Put it to sleep and hit the QP or DVD button on the laptop, and you should see the XP splash screen and then HP Quick Play Direct 2.3.
Let me know if this works, or if there’s anything else that you specifically did that may have caused the error.

The bad news
I tried to download the full version on different computers but never managed to get a full copy downloaded. The download terminates before the end and so data3 is never complete.
However, data1 also has the non microsoft format error.
It would appear that there is either a problem with the full version or that for whatever reason there is something that your server and my systems do not like, which results in an
incomplete download.
The good news.
After reading what others had posted in previous downloads, it would appear that there may be a problem for some with the full download, so I downloaded the sliced version in the hop that this would work.
So far I have down loaded the software and the sizes suggest that they are ok at 35mb. Now
I will have to unzip them and see if I can get to the next step.
However, I think that I may just live with the Windows version provided by HP as it really takes up a lot of time with the expiring keys, download failures etc.
Thanks for providng the software. I think that HP should be doing that and allow us the customer to decide if we want it or not….
regards
Tony

How does the DVD/Quickplay button know to boot from the X drive ? I have downloaded a whole document about how this is done in Vista, but figure that this works in a different way
at the BIOS level.

Thank you ver y much for these advices, but does it mean I need to format X: (in order to place hpqpdp folder right in) ?
And is it bad to delete D: recovery partition ? Because my notebook hasn’t any drivers or cds but the restoring dvd made me burn…
Thank one more time for your help :-d

August 3rd, 2007 at 11:17 pm
Hi ! Bad news…
I have deleted the recovery partition, then I created an X: 1028 MB partition after C:.
I have launched C:\SWsetup\HPQPDP\setup.exe, and the same problem comes again…
More, I had to format all the disc because Windows Vista didn’t boot anymore, even after having deleted C:…
Help :-S
I don’t know what to do…
Thanks

*”having deleted X:”
August 4th, 2007 at 3:03 am
Yeeeaaah ! Good news !
I have restored all my c/ partition, created the usual X: partition, MADE IT ACTIVE, installed quickplay as usual, but after the reboot, I used a boot manager to reboot on vista, and then I went on X: (you can access it by the adress bar in explorer), and I lanched MBRInst.exe, where I set “force start” on “none”, show os type” as “0X12″, etc.. Then, I launched an application called someting like “OPDSetup” from X:, and it installed some stuff. Then, it reboot…
And : It reboot on vista ! :-):-), and when i shut it down and press the quickplay button, it launches the X: partition ! !
Only ONE problem remains : I still have the blue BSOD screen on the boot of X:
It says :
STOP : 0X0000007B (0XF9E53524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
I found the same error on :
http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:q7bSb_6y2oQJ:www.notebookforums.com/post2434877.html+stop+:+0X0000007B+(0XF9E53524,+0XC0000034,+0X00000000,+0X00000000)&hl=fr&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=fr
On this post, a dude has the same problem…
I still look for a solution…
But if you could help me about this problem, it would be very wonderfull !
I thank you a lot once again, as for people you help as for me.
August 5th, 2007 at 12:25 pm
Hold on, I’m a little confused. So you can now boot into X, and but when you boot into it, you get the Blue Screen of Death instead of Quick Play, right? If so, try reinstalling QP Direct through Vista now without doing anything to your partitions.
August 5th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Hi !
Thanks for the advice…
But what do you mean by “without doing anything to the partitions” ??
I tried to launch C:\SWSetup\HPQPDP\Setup.exe with the current situation, but i got the error :
“ComponentMoveData had the following error:
Component : Quickplay Component
File Group :
File :
Error Number : -2147418113
PS : I have to note that my notebook’s hdd is an scsi one.. does it do anything ?
August 5th, 2007 at 1:24 pm
PS 2 :
I hadn’t installed QPD anyhow but though Vista.. Is it possible not to install it though Vista ?
Thank you very much again..;)
August 5th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
!! !! !! New Information about bsod issue !
On the following topic, Yako says something very interessant about this blue screen problem :
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-173496.html
He speeks about Partition Table Doctor.
I did what he has done, and PTD said the same thing to me : “Partition S (X:) on HD0 is not “unknown”, it is an NTFS/… Do you want to correct it ?”
I said yes, and when it rebooted, the system couldn’t boot on X: anymore, quickplay button or not…
So I reinstalled QPD from vista one more time, launched CLLauncher again, and everything came normal again… Same situation.
What do you think about this ??
Thank you…
PS : When I launched PTD, it also spoke about some sectors errors, but installing MBRInst.exe BEFORE QPD solved the problem.
August 6th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Hi Asif !
I found this thread on notebook forum :
http://www.notebookforums.com/thread141817-56.html
This guy has the same problem as me, and if you look at the last post, he solved it by downgrading his bios…
I have upgraded by bios just after having bought my pc, before having the idea of installing qpd…
Seems like I could try it…
Could you tell me how to downgrade my bios, knowing that I have a tx1020ea…?
I thank you very much !
August 6th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
I have found the link towards a bios versions download page.
I post it in case of someone would have a tx1020ea and would like to downgrade his bios :
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-52616-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3352240&os=2093&lang=en
I’m actually at the office, I will try tonight to reinstall quickplay direct after having downgraded my bios…
The results in 4 hours after having posted thiese sentences !!
August 7th, 2007 at 2:55 am
Hi ! Me again
Downgrading the bios has changed nothing…
I reinstalled all the vista system, I thaught that if I would create the famous new partition X: with vista (for the fisrt-time creation), maybe it would work…
But vista prevents me from reducing the main volume’s size more than 958 Mb…
How can I do ???
Thank you …
August 7th, 2007 at 8:04 am
Mila,
Let me look at all your comments and do some research. I’ll have something for you 2nite. My timezone is GMT +5.
August 7th, 2007 at 12:10 pm
ok ! Thank you !
August 9th, 2007 at 11:06 am
Hi !
I don’t find the way I could reduce my C: partition more than 959 Mb…
I have already tried to desctivate the file restauration and to grub my disc…
Help !
Thank you …
My timezone is GMT+1.
August 9th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Ok, hold on. Why are you trying to redice your main partition. And are you trying to make it smaller or larger than 959 MB. C: can be any size, as long as you only have c: and x: for quickplay direct. X: needs to be 1028 or 1029 MB, and the rest has to be C:, and X: has to come at the end of the HDD, i.e., in this case, after C:. Downgrading to the XP flash may help you start your QPD, but it will give you problems when you’re booting into Vista; it may not for sure, but it is likely that it will. So I suggest you keep the bios flash for windows vista, or your computer will only be good for QP Direct once you get it to work.
I suggest you remove your partitions, and re-install the OS on your HDD with the two partitions. Then you run the hpqpdp setup, and you shouldn’t have any problems. What I don’t get is is why you’re trying to reduce the size of the main partition. Don’t do that. Follow the instructions on http://www.asifism.com/?p=43. That explains the partitions you need to have too.
August 9th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Ok, I see…
I will have to reset all my settings one more time…
Ok, i’ll do this :
- I downl…purchase the x64 version of vista (I have a x64 cpu, why not enable it ? ;-))
- I Download all the tx1020ea drivers for vista x64
- I erase all my HDD
- I create one partition (C:) and another: X that will be an unalocated 1028 Mo at the end of the drive
- I install Vista on C:
- I install all the drivers for vista x64
- I install QPD as usual…
Is it correct ??
Thank you one more time, and excuse me for taking so much space on your site :-)…
PS : I need some time to…purchase vista x64, so I’ll tell you if it worked in some days…
I hold on
August 14th, 2007 at 11:47 pm
Thanks Asif. I know of no where else that we could have found these files. I got it to work both on Vista x64 and Vista x86. Nice to be able to format your HDD and replace Quickplay Direct Functionality. For those having problems with the downloaded zip files, I had the same problem. Downloaded the files several times and got the same problem using winzip 11.1 and WinRAR. I noticed one time that there was an a “file name” that gave the error, so I re-downloaded just that sliced file. Then winzip gave an error on another file, so I again downloaded just that file, until I was able to get the entire program to be uncompressed. Followed the instructions and installed just fine. Please remember to label the 1029MB Partiton with the letter X. If you don’t you will get an error after about 5% of the install proceeds. Good Luck and enjoy. Great work Asif.

Glad I can help, Sam.
August 15th, 2007 at 11:10 pm
Asif,
The HPQPD files are very hard to find. Can you please create a new set of keys as I am looking for a copy of the software. I can also make a torrent of it so that you do not have to do all the hosting. I have not found a torrent of it anywhere…
Thanks

Could you please repost for those who would like to have this program restored to the pc? I know that I would greatly appreciate it and I am sure that countless others would as well.
