hello asif. i’ve got problem installing the QPW2.3 During installation, its suddenly stuck. and this error message is displayed —> Component : PowerCinema Component

What was the problem act. Hope u can help. Anyway thanks f uploading the installer here.

The download frozes at random %, I tried using FlashGet with only 1 jet, It works better but fozes againg and stops, and seem that yor ftp does not permit continue downloads after breaks

To date, there are only 2 people who have successfully managed the full download, on a variety of different hosts. Try the sliced download, and you may get errors. Re-download the files, and it eventually works. Somehow some bits and pieces from the sliced download go missing on occassion; not sure if that’s the encryption software or the host, probably the host. I know it causes inconvenience, but try with winzip 11 or winrar, and it will work. Numerous people have also made it work, and there have been many complains too.

Hi Asif, I don’t know whether my problem have posted or not but this is a little problem that I have got. When I installed the Quickplay direct, (I have download from your host which is HPQPD 2.3 sliced and successfully to unrar it, I’m using Winrar v3.7) the computer asked me to restart. When I restart the computer, it is can not be boot again. I have read your post in page 8 “how to install …” and I have followed step by step. This trouble made me reinstall my OS 3 time everytime I tried to install HPQPD. Can you help me to solve this problem? I have lost my recovery disk on this HP DV6245us, when I reinstall the Vista –> I had to ask for confirmation ID from microsoft many times … ’cause this Product ID is OEM. Please help … I really interesting with this kind of software … Thanks in advance ….

Leo, there can be a number of reasons why this is happening. How many partitions do you have? if you wanna install QPD, you cannot keep the original recovery partition that came with your notebook. You can have only 2 partitions: the one for QP Direct and another and another one. Any more partitions, and you can have major issues while booting up. You can, however, try and resolve the issue be amending your autoexec file and manually force the PC to boot into a cerain partition; i’ve had luck with it, but i’ve failed more times than I have uscceeded.

The other problem that you can possibly have is the one other people have even with just 2 partitions, although typically the PC will boot up, it just won’t boot into QuickPlay Direct. For this, again, you have to change your boot settings. You can find help with changing these settings on the microsoft web site.

It’s more than likely that you have either more than 2 partitions or your QP partition is not at the end of the HDD. Fix that, and your problem may very well go away.

As I have told you, my recovery partition was gone. I just have 2 partition now, C: for System and D: for Data, there’re all. When I installed QPD, I have created a partition at the end of D with exactly 1Gb (or 1028MB as you have said) and thing was happened. It could not boot. Just … look at the black screen and reinstalled many times …

My friend, you are making the exact same mistake I’ve tried to tell you not to make. You CANNOT have C: and D: and then install QPD and expect it to boot. You can ONLY have C: for both system and data, and then use the instructions to make an X:. If you have C and D, then you’ll have a total of 3 partitions when you install QPD and make X: for it. You can only have a total of 2.

Asif: First of all What a great job!!! Thanks a lot for this! I was wondering if you can help me with knowledge… I got this dv2425la with vista and installed XP mc05… almost ok, just QP is gone and media center claims my video drivers are not compatible… when installed xp i did’nt mess with part’s i just selected the big one from the “2 list” partitions. then big and the recovery. so i don’t understand why QPD was gone… I want now to try your methods to install QPD on the xp, but i understand i can’t keep the recovery partition… Any way to make those recoverys dvds so i can safely get rid of this partition? I think may be something makes me get back to vista and i don’t have any installer besides this partition….

This was pretty much how my escapade with an HP laptop began to, and unfortunately, the answer to your question is that no, you cannot extract anything from that recovery partition. The only way to get the recovery discs is to order them from HP, or get someone who has a similar laptop to make you one.

You can most likely install QPD with the method on this website, but I don’t think there is any way you can see or copy the original backup partition to put it to use.

You will be unable to see that parition even if you revert back to vista as it stands. To get that partition as is, you would need the original recovery discs from HP. I’m sorry, but there’s really no other way of doing it, at least not that I’m aware of.

I’ve got some answers bout qpd ad i think may be you can help me. On my last post i told you ‘past’, now what i’ve done after your reply: bkpd up my xp partition, set the recovery part as boot, boot with this, recovery hard disk (qpd didnt appear), prepared those recovery dvd’s, then deleted the recovery partition, recovered my xp, then extend windows to almost all hard disk, leaving 2Gb in other non formated partition. Now i am downloading from your site… Am i correct in this pre-requisites? and the question, those dvds i prepared now to recover vista, do they include some hpqpdp installer? Thanks in advance! So far you’re correct. Don’t forget to name the partition X:, and resize it to 1GB. And no, the dvds do not, or per HP, should not include the Quickplay Direct Installer. They didn’t on mine.

and leave a bit larger then 1GB unalocated space in the end of Hdd.
Currently i ve C: NTFS, D: FAT32, E: NTFS and 1050 Mb unalocated space for QPD2.3

After installation finished the system restart and i got a black screen with cursor blinking . the system doesnt boot even i m not able to access the boot menu:(

2: F:\Windows

but wsnt able to get to it root. i.e. C:\ or F:\ although i tried “Cd.. and cd\” commands. (i want to be there to change the boot.ini for both drives so the system could be boot)

Boot.ini is the issue here. You cannot have multiple partitions with QuickPlay Direct. Well, you can but it is highly unstable; works on some laptops but doesn’t work on others. You can try going into the BIOS to choose a partition if the BIOS provides that option.
