    Hi,

I downloaded the 3.0 RAR archive of Quickplay for Windows after reinstalling Windows Vista (64bit) from scratch. There is nothing left of the original stuff on the computer.

However, I keep on getting the “This software may only be installed in authorized machine” error. I’ve tried the registry fix, as well as using the “Unbranded” trick in custom.ini as described in an old post, with no results. At this point, of all the possible fixes I’ve seen, the only one left would be the one in which you recommend using another setup file than the one provided in the QPW folder, but I just don’t quite get what you mean by that. But I might just be a bit clueless.

Using Vista Ultimate. This is a fresh install with virtually nothing installed outside of the drivers from HP.

Anyway, I hope you’re gonna be able to help me out with this. Thanks a lot.

Jf, What notebook model are you using and what are the specs?

  • Jf

I’ve got an HP tx2524ca (one of those models with the rotating screen that can turn into a tablet), with an AMD Turion X2 RM-70 (2Ghz) and 4GB Ram. Video is an integrated ATi Radeon HD 3200.

Jf, apologies for the delayed reply.

Even if you get past the authorized machine error, the drivers in the installation file may not be compatible with your laptop.

Using a different installation file was something I started but never got to finish. It basically meant updating the installation files to add drivers for newer PCs that may not be comptaible with the drivers currently exist in the file.

Have you tried to manually edit the registry and add the registry keys?
